However, there are several limitations to the use o f two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel elec trophoresis (2D-PAGE) as a proteome visualization technique. One o f the major constraints is the limitation o f the size o f proteins. Proteins o f a molecular mass lower than 10 kDa can not be studied. Nevertheless, this mass region contains the very important groups o f peptides.
