ABSTRACT

Biology Transplant coronary artery vasculopathy

is characterized by the development o f a neointimal layer in large and medium sized coronary arteries. This layer consists initially of mononuclear cells which are gradually replaced by smooth muscle cells. Later fibro sis leads to the eventual obliteration o f these arteries. The main cause o f transplant coro nary artery vasculopathy is a chronic immune injury exacerbated by other factors such as reperfusion injury4 CM V disease5'7 and dyslipidemias.8
