ABSTRACT

Evaluation of the training process is really no different. It is not a single event; it is a process (Nadler, 1987). The evaluation must correlate to a measurable business need. From the safety training perspective, this must be reflected in an observable behavior (performance) that results from the train ing. This is what safety training is all about. It is improvement of employee behavior by providing them with the tools (knowledge, environment, and equipment) to effectively protect themselves in a way that minimizes business interruption. But it is also about achieving a mental state of performance.
