ABSTRACT

Statistics tell us that OSHA most likely will never directly impact your organization. Due to manning, budget constraints, and just the politics of it all, OSHA will never make the impact it would like. The fear of reprisal from OSHA through fines doesn’t really do it either. The very nature of the puni­ tive process is not that impacting. Even when these huge fines are levied, rarely are organizations held to the publicized dollar amount. My intent is not to blast OSHA, but to make the point that compliance is not the effective ave­ nue on which you base safety training.
