ABSTRACT

There are probably a number of reasons for this problem, but many of them are rooted in the very culture that makes up the organization. The cul ture of the organization will ultimately determine the success of any initiative to include safety training. The organization not only provides educational opportunities to its employees, but it creates and supports the environment necessary for successful learning. Without understanding culture, what it is, and how it can impact your efforts, you will never train for performance be cause somewhere the system will break down. Either the training will not be delivered as planned, evaluations will not be conducted, time and resources will not be available, or a standard of performance will not be demanded. This is why it is so important to build training based on objectives and make sure these objectives are tied to business needs. If these objectives are tied to business objectives, all levels of the organization will be more inclined to put the energies forward to ensure success.
