ABSTRACT
Understanding the connectivity between pieces on the hexagonal grid is central to understanding the game of Hex. After a brief discussion of the hexagonal coordinate system, this chapter defines some concepts related to piece adjacency, connectivity, and distance on the hexagonal grid. These provide the foundation for more detailed analyses of board situations and Hex strategy.
