ABSTRACT
Heisenberg was born on December 5, 1901, in Würzburg, Germany, and came from an academic background. His maternal grandfather was the headmaster of the prestigious Maximilian Gymnasium in Munich (which Heisenberg attended), and his father, a professor in Byzantine Studies.
