ABSTRACT

Thus far, the discussion has centered around utilizing data from files for automated data analysis. The reality is that although data are often

first generated

in a file type format, it will rarely be stored or archived as a file. The principal impediment to storing information as a series of files is that it is not readily searchable. Although it is true that there are applications that will seek out information contained in a series of files, the scale of efficiency is not nearly comparable to a modern database. Thus, information that started in a file type format is often loaded into a modern relational database, where it can be searched and compared against other like elements of the database with relative ease.
