For definiteness, we consider a dense (bottom) current released from a standard, rectangular lock of height h0; in the Boussinesq case the light counterpart is the mirror image with respect to the boundary on which propagation occurs. Let H be the dimensionless height of the ambient, scaled with h0 of the lock.
