ABSTRACT
The last chapter introduced methods of statistical process control and paid particular attention to cumulative sum methods as a way to monitor a quantity over time, with the objective of detecting changes in the mean as quickly as possible. In this chapter we begin to address the question of how these methods may be adapted for use with spatial data, where interest lies in the quick detection of change in spatial patterns.
