ABSTRACT
As we have seen in Chapter 3, there are various global statistics that may be employed to test the null hypothesis that a map pattern does not deviate significantly from expectations. These tests do not provide information on the question of whether incidence may be raised significantly around particular locations. In providing a single test statistic, the global tests do not reveal information about the size, location, and significance of localized geographic clusters.
