ABSTRACT

I am including a chapter on cancer in this book because cancer is the disease that is most commonly linked with the terms ‘Macmillan nurse’, ‘palliative care’ and ‘hospice.’ Most symptom control in palliative care relates to cancer. However, the principles of palliative care and symptom control that are synonymously linked to cancer can and should be used to help people who are suffering from other life-limiting illnesses.
