ABSTRACT
Introduction Without clinical teaching, medical students would not be able to place their theoretical learning in a practical context and would require a lot more support at internship and junior house officer (JHO) level to be safe to release on the public. At least that is the assertion that is accepted by nearly everybody in medical education, but there is not much research evidence, probably because most regard it as an obvious truism and have not done any such research.
