ABSTRACT

Impetigo is a superficial cutaneous infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus or rarely by group A streptococci. It is common in the young and especially where people live in close proximity with one another. Blistering, which can occur in impetigo, is caused by exfoliative toxins released by staphylococci. The rapid development of impetigo and its striking appearance often precipitate an acute presentation.
