ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on spot diagnoses and their more detailed examinations, such as in a patient with acromegaly, wherein a candidate would be expected to either offer or simply examine the patient's visual field for a bitemporal hemianopia, a well-known associated sign. Often the examination of an endocrinological disorder is multisystemic, so examiners cannot direct the people to one organ system to examine over another. T1DM is caused by the autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta islet cells, which causes the patient to be insulin deficient. T2DM is becoming one of the world’s major health problems, due to the globally increasing rates of obesity. Phaeochromocytomas are rare tumours of adrenalin-secreting chromaffin cells.
