ABSTRACT

This chapter explores that the themed presentation encourages quick, focused study and detailed answers aid comprehension and encourage familiarity with central nervous system neoplasms with essential diagrams, colour images and sample MRIs. The MRI and biopsy findings are highly suggestive of GBM. GBM is the most common primary brain tumour in adults and has the worst prognosis. The treatment of GBM is multimodal often involving surgical resection, rotational chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. Carmustine is a chemotherapeutic drug that has been used to treat GBM. Pituitary adenomas initially compress the optic chiasm from thereby causing a bitemporal superior quadrantanopia and eventually a bitemporal hemianopia if left untreated. Craniopharyngiomas are the most common childhood supratentorial tumours. It is a benign childhood tumour that can cause over- or underproduction of pituitary hormones.
