ABSTRACT

The Bahai Faith was founded by Bahau’llah in the mid-nineteenth century in Persia (Iran). The name Bahau’llah means “The Glory of God.” He was born in Persia on November 12, 1817, into a noble family. He gave up a life of privilege to deliver a new message of peace and unity to humanity. On November 29, 1921, 10000 people – Jews, Christians, and Muslims from all persuasions and denominations – gathered on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land to mourn the passing of ‘Abdu’l-Baha. Bahau’llah promoted mutual understanding and cooperation among nations, cultures, and people. He counseled his followers to rid themselves of all prejudice, whether based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, class, or gender. Bahau’llah emphasized the fundamental obligation of human beings to seek the truth and acquire knowledge. The Bahai teachings stress the fundamental harmony of science and religion. Local Assemblies can be called upon to assist Baha’i patients and their families.
