ABSTRACT

The purpose of all project management activities is to perform processes in a cost-effective manner in order to achieve their stated objectives. This chapter outlines the adaptable project management approach. The adaptable project management approach for product development starts with a decision about which features should be implemented in the next release. Features from the repository are evaluated, prioritized and finally selected. Depending on the size and complexity of this selection problem, different levels of effort and risk can be applied. The decision about which feature should be implemented when depends on the given project context. An adaptable project management approach was illustrated for release, iterative and weekly planning for a case study project. Adaptable project management also might imply that for small scale problems, approaches at level 2 and 3 can already be “good enough”. The chapter discusses the results and their applicability in a broader context.
