ABSTRACT

In many of these countries, there has been a decline in funding for veterinary services and for animal health care in general.8 Traditional medicine based on phytotherapy may complement and offer alternatives for animal disease control, in particular for resource-poor breeders. However, more studies are needed to investigate the efcacy of these ethnobotanicals. The rst step in this direction is to record and describe the plants used and to identify them correctly on a taxonomic level.9
