ABSTRACT

Probably no single element of incineration systems causes more problems than those related to the handling of wastes. One of the most significant differences between liquid and gaseous waste incineration systems and those for sludge and solids concerns the equipment used to collect, transport, store, reclaim, and fire the wastes. In many cases, weaknesses or failures in the design of materialhandling subsystems have greatly reduced the utility and increased the operating and maintenance problems and costs of solid or sludge waste-management facilities.
