ABSTRACT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) belongs to the group of protective devices that directly protect a worker against hazards in the work environment. Before deciding to use PPE, all possible technical and organisational measures to eliminate the risk at the source must be undertaken. When efforts to completely eliminate hazards to life and health or to reduce their admissible values do not succeed, that is, the concentration or intensity values of harmful factors present at workstations are still higher than is permissible, the use of PPE is the nal barrier for the worker.
