Os CO6 18 2( ) −, and Ru6C(CO)17 [11] have been synthesized and structurally character-

ized. These were found to be aromatic in nature [2]. Although, a large number of aromatic compounds with metal as a part of the aromatic ring have been synthesized, all-metal aromatic compounds could not be synthesized until 2001. In 2001, Boldyrev and coworkers reported gas-phase synthesis and photoelectron spectroscopy of a series of bimetallic compounds of the type MAl4

− {M = Li, Na, and Cu}, and subsequently it was shown that planar Al4
