ABSTRACT

With the rapid growth in technology coupled with the increasing demands from the people and industry, one field that has emerged magnificently is robotics. The growth and development in this field has been deeply studied for many years. The robots have now started replacing humans, especially in tasks that the humans were not comfortable at or found very difficult and laborious to do. The security of humans further restricts them from performing certain actions or tasks that can be easily undertaken by the robots. Housecleaning, carrying heavy loads in factories, and going to unknown lands for surveys are common examples. The field of robotics is vast and interdisciplinary in nature. It has numerous issues, complexities, and applications in various domains, and the combined efforts of people from various disciplines results in the effective development and deployment of robots. In this chapter, apart from discussing general robotics, we mainly deal with the problem of planning the paths of robot and moving a robot using the planned path.
