ABSTRACT

Leaders have a critical role in establishing and influencing organizational patterns. That role begins with an honest assessment of their individual patterns: strengths, weaknesses, prejudices, and blind spots. As highlighted in the case story, there are three different competencies internal or external consultants need to possess and use. There are occasions where one person or firm will have strengths in all three of the areas listed below, and others where it might make sense to engage multiple resources to be sure all support functions are provided with quality. The second role is to assure the fighters fight fair; following the rules that were mutually agreed upon before the fight began.
