ABSTRACT

Today's mobile communication technology is growing more rapidly than ever before. In order to be competitive, mobile phone makers incorporate as many functions into their mobile phones as possible. However, with the growing multitude of functions, its user interface design, integration, and maturity all will affect users' expectation and perceived complexity. To address this, many mobile phones allow for "User Customization" as a means to let users freely configure interface or functions, which leads the user's experience more logical, "friendly" and personalized per the individual user. Our research objective seeks to analyze user behavior pattems in customizing mobile phone, such as layout logic, menu hierarchy, and function priority. In the "Work" mode survey, we found out that both genders set "Contact" as their first customization choice and "Calendar" the second. In the "Leisure" mode, "Contact" was still the most popular choice and "Multimedia", "Game" that followed. So, as we can see, despite the various functions or programs provided, the initial function "The ability to connection people" still remains significant.
