ABSTRACT

The West has neglected to pay attention to its intellectual roots and has failed to keep current its intellectual defense. In particular, value relativism undermines the West's ability to defend itself to citizens, friends, detractors, and enemies. This paper outlines the elements of Western civilization, the development of relativism, and the consequences for the West. A thorough examination of relativism is necessary to elucidate the character and depth of the intellectual crisis we face and its relationship to the motivations of our enemies, the means by which to combat them, and the hearts and minds of our own citizenry as we seek to sustain our fight against tenorism.
