ABSTRACT

Actually, exposure of repeated whole-body vibration is directly related to musculoskeletal system disorder. Professional exposure to whole-body vibration is reported to relate to epidemic of degenerative change to vertebra organization including the lumbago disorder, sciatica, lumbar HIVD (Hemiated Intervertebral Disc). Therefore, this paper describes the effect of vibration to the human body from rapid-transit train in KTX(Korea Train eXpress) and Sincansen based on ISO 2631-1. When these compare with measurement values for the x,y,z axes, the z (top and bottom) axis is higher than the x (front and rear), y (left and right) axes by 2 to 3 times. As a result, it is expected that the horizontal vibration has less effect than vertical vibration on the driver's body. The vector sum value for KTX is higher at 0.191m/s2 than for Sincansen at 0.15lm/s2• The KTX exposure limit time is 143.27 hours, while Sincansen is 229.23 hours. The values for KTX and Sincansen are evaluated as "Health effects not documented/observed" for the "Health guidance caution zone" in IS02631-l.
