ABSTRACT
This paper presents a brief overview of requirements on noise measurements, impulse noise measurements and hearing damage risk criteria for noise exposure. First presented are the requirements referring to general assessment of noise, including those set by the European Council Directive 2003/1 0/EC. In following sections discussed are specific issues concerning the effect of impulse noise on hearing, including the usage of hearing protectors to reduce the exposure to continuous noise and impulse noise.
