ABSTRACT

This paper describes the process developed within the U.S. Depmiment of Homeland Security (DHS) for mitigating human systems integration (HSI) risks in homeland security technology and systems. The significance of the paper is that it describes how DHS is mitigating risks to human performance and safety in emerging technology and systems where the concern is not only for the typical systems users such as the operator and maintainer, but also for the general public (involved and non-involved personnel in the area).
