ABSTRACT

Analyses of disasters and unwanted events prove that human factor failure is the most frequent reason for them. It is obvious that the only implementation of safety management system in an enterprise will not bring about the sought-after results. The evidence shows that in many cases systems of safety management are often embodied by a set of out-of-practice manuals and handbooks with which workers do not identify themselves. Implementation and reinforcement of safety culture as a set of values, approaches, competence and behavioural pattems that determine engagement, style and competence of an organisation's programmes in Occupational Safety and Health. The paper focuses on the opportunities of assessment of safety culture level in an enterprise as well as up-grading possibilities.
