ABSTRACT
The problem of fitting a straight line to observed points by minimizing orthogonal distances has been around since late 1800s, and now all its aspects are well understood and documented in the statistics literature. We gave a historic overview in the previous chapter. Here we give a brief summary of the solution to this problem and its main features.
