ABSTRACT
Various semi-empirical methods have been proposed over the last 30 years to calculate the axial capacity of driven piles in clay. Fourteen such methods are referred to in Clausen & Aas (2001). The design of offshore piles has traditionally been carried out as recommended by the American Petroleum Institute, API RP2A, API (1993). The present API recommendations are mainly based upon the results presented by Dennis & Olson (1983).
