ABSTRACT
A B S T R A C T : Survey measurements indicate that ceasing to pump mine water out of closed coal
mines results in surface heave. In the practice of the German mine surveying the mathematical
basis for the projection of such ground movements are the formulae derived by Pottgens (1985)
and Fenk (2000).
