ABSTRACT

Whether you use Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, business process reengineering, total quality management, continuous improvement, or cycle time reduction, the basic goal is essentially the same: to do more better and faster with less. A critical enabler and success factor in each of these common improvement endeavors is the ability to quantitatively measure performance. As the saying goes, “You can’t understand, manage, or improve what you don’t measure.” High-performing organizations seem to understand this basic principle and have developed highly effective performance measurement systems within their respective organizations, irrespective of particular organizational affinity.
