ABSTRACT

The final step in creating a performance measurement system is the actual design and development of the performance-related information displays themselves. This is basically the “how should it look” part of the performance measurement development process. The goal of any performance measure display is to provide intended users with relevant and meaningful information that can be easily and quickly assimilated and understood. Another goal is to transform the presented information into actionable knowledge on the basis of what “is” being displayed. Many companies, in an attempt to better distribute performance-related information to their employees, have adopted the concept of a visual office or factory by posting performance measure displays throughout their respective facilities.
