ABSTRACT

The idea of implementing an on-site program may be daunting, so many employers will choose to go the “vendor route” and subcontract the effort to a firm that specializes in this type of healthcare provision. The problem then becomes how to choose the appropriate vendor and, once chosen, how to execute a contract for on-site services. Although nothing is standard, the common approach would be to go through some kind of planning process, often with the assistance of a consulting group or benefits management firm. Once this is done, the consultant or someone in purchasing or human resources (HR) develops an request for proposal (RFP) and the process of selection is engaged.
