ABSTRACT

New approaches to construction management such as relational contracting and lean design and construction are built on a foundation of team integration and open sharing of project-related information. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and building information modeling (BIM) are an effective mechanism for providing construction stakeholders with the informational and analytical tools for better management of the construction delivery processes. This chapter includes two cases by Professor Salman Azhar and colleagues that illustrate the benefits of BIM in construction projects.
