ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the structure and configuration of commands for transponders as well as the different status and error messages transmitted by the transponders as response to these commands. It provides the commands in the Series 2000 systems from Texas Instruments that operate in the low-frequency (LF) band. The chapter also explores the commands used in diverse transponders from Texas Instruments operating in the high-frequency (HF) band. It describes the commands supported in the Series 4000 interrogators from Texas Instruments that can operate in the LF and HF bands. The chapter also describes the commands used by the transponders from Texas Instruments operating in the ultra-high-frequency band. It focuses on the commands used by transponders manufactured by Atmel® in the different frequency ranges. Atmel® transponders operating in the LF range are available in different memory sizes, with some of them incorporating anticollision capabilities.
