ABSTRACT
Surveillance personnel who want to be successful must use proven surveillance techniques. These are methods that, once learned, will assist the operator in the detection of policy or procedure violations or criminal activity. The surveillance patrol is one of those techniques. A thorough patrol, using cameras to search, monitor, and record routine and unusual activities occurring within the casino is a foundational surveillance procedure used to generate consistent detections. Detection of crime or the indicators that a crime is about to take place is probably the most important function of a surveillance department.
