Listed in Table 4.2 are common optical carrier (OC) line speeds. Since PACS/EHR applications are mission critical to any healthcare institution, leased lines are
the primary means of interconnecting various hospitals and clinics enterprise-wide. The only concern with using leased lines may be the cost-they are expensive. A dedicated T3 leased line can cost a few thousand US dollars per month.
