ABSTRACT

PACS and its broad implementation have overcome such ineffi ciency in the patient care workfl ow because images now can be accessed by multiple specialists through a PACS workstation (such as shown in Figure 3.3) as soon as the images are acquired and sent into the PACS system. The birth of PACS is a natural result of the progress made in the past few decades in the technology of image acquisition, computer networks, and image display.
