ABSTRACT

Trace elements (TEs) present a range of regulatory challenges that have received significant attention over the past 5 to 10 years stimulated by research programs borne largely from the EU Existing Substance Regulations (793/93/EEC). Advances in the understanding of the behavior and fate of TEs in soils in terms of potential human and environmental health are leading to a reassessment of existing methods of how risks posed by TEs are assessed.
