Inputs are utilized in the process to produce the product, service, or information. Inputs can include labor, machinery, electricity, sensors, money, equipment, raw materials, and so on.

Examples of product outputs include cars, computers, furniture, TVs, stereos, dishes, plates, and batteries. Service outputs can include waiting on a customer, answering a telephone, serving coffee, driving a taxi, or delivering a package. Information outputs can include reports, magazines, and presentations.
