ABSTRACT

Up til now, many different analytical methods have been published related to determination of wide variety of compounds in natural sources. One of them, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), considered one of the most versatile and adequately effective separation techniques, is frequently used in qualitative and quantitative determinations of natural compounds. HPLC has a number of advantages in comparison to other chromatographic methods, mainly because of its modular design, high-throughput of separation, and optional automated operation. It is now the most widely used technique for analyses of coumarins. Most coumarin-specic applications of HPLC include separations of crude extracts from selected higher plants as well as the analysis of complex coumarins besides their purication process.
