At the start of the project, there was a wide range of accounting standards used by insurers, and these standards often differed from accounting standards for other enterprises in the same country. The objective of the project was “To produce a single set of high quality, understandable and enforceable global accounting standards that require high quality, transparent and comparable information in financial statements.”
