ABSTRACT
Reserve risk stems from two sources: on the one hand, the absolute level of the claims provisions may be misestimated. On the other hand, because of the stochastic nature of future claims payouts, the actual claims will fluctuate around their statistical mean value. The underlying risk is assumed to follow a lognormal distribution.
