ABSTRACT

Being on the ground ·oor of a scienti–c breakthrough-a truly game-changing technology-presents a challenge for those lucky enough to be involved. The enormous potential of cellular reprogramming, particularly human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from tools for studying basic biology to toxicology predictors and from drug discovery to cell therapy is exciting, but the breadth of that potential presents so many opportunities that there is a temptation to try to address them all. Therefore, one strategy is to focus on the application of cellular reprogramming to drug discovery and development, so that real therapies can be brought to patients as quickly as possible.
