ABSTRACT

And at the risk of running this parenthood metaphor just a bit too far, what inventor among us doesn’t have just the most special, unique, and precious concept to nurture from its infancy through commercial reality? Over the past 20-25 years through which this latest surge of the potential of the cell has continually gained momentum and promise, we have learned that while the challenges do certainly abound, as with previous industries, the solutions will form around and from those challenges. And they are directly responding to the logistic, –nancial, regulatory, clinical, and scienti–c obstacles in a manner proportional to their cause, for it should not surprise us that we encounter such dif–culties on the path towards a goal so lofty and unforgiving as nothing less than “cure.”
