A disease that is communicable from animals to humans such as BSE (mad cow), avian §u, Escherichia coli, salmonella, rabies, and malaria.

A term used in heat process calculations that expresses the number of centigrade degrees (C°) increase required to achieve a 10-fold decrease in the D-value of an organism. (See D-value; F0 = 3 minutes.)
