ABSTRACT
When we do mathematical work, we have many tools to choose from. Much of mathematical work is of three types:
• Text • Pictures • Calculations In the area of text, the best choice for most writing is LATEX (see Chapter 9). LATEX is
the professional standard all over the world. When people exchange documents, work on collaborative projects, submit articles to journals, etc., the work is invariably composed in LATEX. However, if you want your text to appear on the World Wide Web, then you would compose it in HTML (Chapter 15). On your Web page, you may want to link to LATEX documents, or LATEX documents converted to PDF (Portable Document Format).
